Awesome Tribal Face Painting

These guys are the real life Islanders!! Emily's face painting is on the left and Shanae's is on the right. Our "victims" told us the paintings were "tight" and their Moms thought it was the real live tattoos!! Well, come to think of it - they do look like they were "burned" into the skin, but no pain!!

Party and Event Planning Advice - Booking a Gig

1. Decide what kind of party you want. Is it a corporate or business party? A children's party? A graduation party? A reunion? A fundraiser? A public event? A holiday celebration? Small work party?

2. Many people choose a "theme" like a princess party, super heroes party, or a jungle party....so they coordinate decorations, food and activities. A theme seems easier to manage the details of a party. Though some people like to "wing it" and anything goes!

3. Decide how many people are coming to your party; how many adults and children. If you send out invitations, it seems that not very many people RSVP. You can ask those who DO NOT attend to RSVP, and then maybe get a better count. Generally speaking, you can plan on at least 1/3 of the people not being able to attend. For a children's party, if you have to get a direct count, then it is best to call them - and there are a few who forget and would appreciate a call! There are surprises though....all of the people invited come and then some!

4. Decide what type of entertainment you want. Do you want it specifically for the children? Do you want the adults to participate? Do you want the entertainment for every one? Do you want face painting? Balloon animals? Both? Air brush (temporary tattoos)? We can also provide magicians and caricaturists.

5. Decide what package you want. There are different packages and combinations with different prices. The cost is based on an hourly rate, and the number of entertainers you want, the type of entertainment and the number of people participating in the event.

6. Make a phone call to 801-554-2364 as soon as you know the date! Book early to get the day and time you want. We are booking into the next four months. If we are unable to answer the phone, we will call back as soon as possible. **If you book us through a third party site, like Gig Masters , it will cost you an extra $20. That is true for any other entertainment you get from them. It is best to book directly.

7. We accept cash, checks, Master and Visa cards (3.5% charge on credit cards). If the gig is booked 6 weeks in advance, there is a 50% deposit required (non-refundable).

8. The event is "booked". About a week before, call to verify the requested entertainment.

Voila! You have excellent, professional entertainment!

Thank You so much for coming to our party!!! You were incredible! Your artwork was fantastic and you worked so quickly...even providing some touch-ups. Absolutely amazing. Secretly, I think my husband wanted to keep his on forever!! :o) At the end, the kids were so excited to take a balloon sculpture home...I swear that each of them had at least 2 in their hands as they left. [My daughter] absolutely loves her special Little Mermaid. She wanted to send a special thank you note, if you have a mailing address we can send it to.

Spot Light!

You know the one-man-band guy? He’s got the cymbals between his knees, the bass drum on his back, a harmonica strapped to his face and he’s playing a violin with one hand and a trumpet with the other. That’s pretty much how I see Emily Steck, the owner of Face Painting Illusions and Balloon Art.

Emily has been a professional cake decorator, a costume seamstress, and a finish carpenter. She refinishes antique furniture, wallpapers, creates wreaths and is a Master Gardener. As she says, “the creative juices have gone in all directions.” No kidding, Emily!

After working with a professional entertainment company for five years, Emily and her daughters began what would become their own face painting and balloon art business. It has been about 6 years since then and Face Painting Illusions and Balloon Art has certainly made a name for itself.

In just the past year and a half they have appeared on KSL news and been on the front page of The Daily Universe. **They were sponsored by KOSY 106.5 for the Safe Kids Fair with over 10,000 people in attendance. Emily has also managed and serviced events for Thanksgiving Point, Cornbelly Maze, and Partyland Utah. This July you’ll find them at the Days of ’47 Float Preview.

Currently Face Painting Illusions and Balloon Art has been nominated for the Utah’s Parent’s Choice Award for entertainment at GoCityKids.com.

**We have since appeared on KUTV2 with Casey Scott; KUTV4 for the Utah Baby and Kidz Expo and with Channel 13 with Big Buddha.
